Soon,you may be able to book retiring rooms at stations online through www.irctc.co.in.
A retiring room may booked on a confirmed/RAC ticket purchased through Passenger Reservation System (PRS). Registered customers who have booked a room will have to provide the PNR number of the ticket on the website. The room booking will then be linked to their ticket. A customer cannot book more than three retiring rooms on one ticket.
On cancellation of the ticket,room booking shall automatically stand cancelled. If booking is cancelled 48 hours ahead of the day of occupation,10 per cent of the booking charge will be deducted from the refund. If it is cancelled within 48 hours of the day of occupation,the deduction will be 50 per cent. There will be no refund on cancellation on the day of occupation, said a senior official.
