A 27-year-old resident doctor studying at Bombay Hospital in south Mumbai was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly filming a woman doctor while she was bathing. The police said the cellphone used by the accused,Jayesh Shah,to commit the crime has also been seized. Shah had used the mobile to film other women doctors earlier,too,they added.
According to the police,Pune native Shah is a final-year student of orthopaedics and stays at the resident doctors quarters in the hospital.
According to the 30-year-old complainant,on Monday morning,she was bathing in the common facility at the quarters when the incident happened.
The police said Shah positioned his cellphone over the partition that separates each cubicle. She soon noticed a hand holding a camera over the partition and raised an alarm. Shah was nabbed by other women doctors, said Narendra Singh,senior inspector,Azad Maidan police station.
Upon inspection,clips of other resident doctors were also found on his mobile phone,an officer said. The hospital authorities then registered a case at Azad Maidan police station on Tuesday night.
Bombay hospitals spokesperson Dr Sagar Sakle said,We cannot comment on the matter till the investigation into the case is over. He added that the hospital would initiate an internal probe into the matter.
