SK Sham, the returning officer for the Mumbai Hockey Association’s managing committee election which were held on Monday, feels that the elections were free and fair and if anybody has any objections they should go to the court.

The 69-year-old veteran journalist was reacting to reports that the most members of the newly elected committee were not happy with the elections for the secretary’s post and have filed the request for re-polling.

“I have heard that they have submitted a letter at the MHA office.

“I was tired after yesterday’s elections,so I couldn’t go to MHA today but I will surely give my reply,” informed Sham.

Sham, however, ruled out heeding to the demand of newly elected managing committee members.

“I have not seen the letter but even if they have requested for a recounting or re-polling,in both cases I don’t see sufficient ground to accept their demand. The margin of the victory of the secretary is big and I don’t see any anomility there. I will reply to them and I will do so tomorrow,” added Sham.

Sham also informed that he has sealed the ballot boxes for the records.
