A 36-year-old rape convict was found murdered near a mall in Malad (West) Tuesday morning. The man had several wounds,which had been made with a sharp object. The mans fingerprints helped in identifying the body. This is the third body found dumped in a fortnight.
While a tailors body was found in a suitcase behind Ryan International School two days ago,a womans severed body part was found near Bandra Worli Sea Link on September 22. The police had registered murder complaints in both cases. There has,however,been no leads on the accused yet.
According to the Goregaon police,the body of Babu Hussain was dumped near a drain behind Ankur building on the Link Road around 7 am Tuesday. A local discovered the body and informed the police. The body was wrapped with bedsheet,plastic and paper sheets,the police said. The body was taken to Bhagwati Hospital for an autopsy.
There were at least eight injuries on his body. The autopsy reports suggest that the man was attacked with a sharp weapon, said Amol Kadwane,sub-inspector at Goregaon police station.
We ran his fingerprints through our records and learnt that he was convicted in a 2001 rape case . We are looking for his family members for further leads, said Arun Jadhav,senior inspector at Goregaon police station.
Hussain was arrested for rape in 2001 by the Kurar police and sentenced to seven years in jail.
It is suspected that the man was murdered in the last two days as the body is not decomposed. A case of murder has been registered against unidentified person under sections of IPC, a police official said.
