Raj Thackeray backing BJP out of concern for his son’s political future: Sanjay Raut

Raj Thackeray's son Amit Thackeray is making his electoral debut from the Mahim constituency in Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Raj ThackerayThackeray said if he is voted to power even once, he will show how to run the government.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut took a dig at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for saying that the next chief minister will be from the BJP. Raut stated that Thackeray’s support for the BJP comes from his concern for his son, Amit Thackeray, who is making his electoral debut from the Mahim constituency in Maharashtra Assembly elections.

“His (Raj’s) son is contesting the polls, so you can understand his mental state. This leader (Raj Thackeray) was speaking a language that did not allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to come to Maharashtra and ensured that there was no place for the BJP in the state. But now he has started praising them… This is because he has fear in his mind. It may be about his son’s political future… But in Maharashtra, there will be a CM of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and Raj Thackeray knows this very well,” Raut said.

While speaking to a news channel on Wednesday, Thackeray said that the Mahayuti alliance will form the next government in the state, and the chief minister will be from the BJP, with the support of MNS.

He further asserted that the state’s chief minister will be from the MNS in 2029. This statement raised eyebrows among many since, before the polls, he had said he would be going into the elections solo, without supporting or joining any of the two alliances.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on November 20, and the counting of votes will be on November 23.
