THE MIRA BHAYANDAR Vasai Virar (MBVV) police Monday busted a narcotics manufacturing unit operating at a farmhouse in a tribal area in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, based on interrogation of eight accused arrested in the case earlier. The officer said that MDMA worth Rs 32 crores was seized from the spot.
Based on the tip off, the police team raided the farmhouse and seized a large stock of narcotic substances and found accessories and machinery used for making the contraband, he said. The police had earlier arrested the farmhouse owner, a civil contractor, and six others in connection with the case.
An officer said that four persons were arrested in the case on Wednesday whose interrogation led the police to two others. Their interrogation led the police to the farmhouse owner Sameer Pinjar and the contractor who were arrested on Sunday.
The officer said that the manufacturing unit was set up in the remote village to evade the law enforcement authorities. This raid comes on the heels of major seizures in raids conducted at Solapur, Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
An officer said, ” We are trying to find out when the farmhouse was used by the accused and if anyone else is involved in the manufacture and supply of drugs. They would primarily sell drugs in Mumbai.”
