A 24-inch pipeline burst in the posh suburban Bandra West early on Saturday morning,affecting water supply to many parts of Bandra.
Residents of Pali Hill,Hill Road faced cut in water supply as the pipeline which connects the Pali Hill Reservoir to many parts of Bandra West burst around 4 am.
The pipeline burst as it is old and rickety. The repair work will be completed by 10 pm on Saturday and water supply will be restored in all parts of Bandra, said R Bamble,chief engineer,Hydraulic Engineering Department.
This is the third pipeline burst in less than 10 days. While earlier this week,a pipe burst at Mahalaxmi affected water supply in many parts near Lower Parel and Worli,earlier this month,a pipe burst at the junction of Nanachowk in Grant road led to severe water shortage in many parts of South Mumbai.
It took the civic administration nearly a week to detect the source of water leakages and resolve the issue.
