Panel to explore ties with Singapore

The governments of Maharashtra and Singapore will form a high-level joint committee to study the possibility of cooperation in fields of infrastructure,transportation and social infrastructure,Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said.

A delegation of senior officials from Singapore,led by former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong,met Chavan on Friday and discussed the possibility of investing in the state.

Chavan,in his introductory remarks,explained various projects underway in the Mumbai region. He said there were ample investment opportunities in the state. The state’s 720-km coastline,the scores of forts as well as the flora and fauna also offered excellent opportunities in fields of tourism and hospitality,he added. Minister for Protocol Suresh Shetty and top bureaucrats were also present.
