Painter held for raping minor stepdaughter four times in a month

Nalasopara police arrested a 40-year-old painter Friday for allegedly raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter more than four times in a month at knife-point.

Nalasopara police arrested a 40-year-old painter Friday for allegedly raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter more than four times in a month at knife-point. They said M Shaikh married a 37-year-old widow,who had a daughter and a six-year-old son from a previous marriage,two years ago.

Wednesday,the woman allegedly saw him trying to rape her daughter who was taking a bath in their home at Alkapuri in Nalasopara (East). She beat Shaikh but he managed to flee.

The woman then confronted her daughter who said every time she went out Shaikh raped her — four-five times in the past month. Police said Shaikh would threaten the girl with a kitchen knife against complaining to her mother.

He was arrested from the house of a relative in Bandra (East) where he was hiding.

“Medical examination confirmed rape. Based on her statement and the medical test,we registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation against Shaikh. He has also been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual offenses Act,” said Mukund Mahajan,senior inspector.
