Nude man enters women’s coach of Mumbai local train, sparks safety concerns

The incident occurred in an air-conditioned local train while it was halted at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar railway station.

Local TrainA ticket checker intervened, pushed the man out of the train and handed him over to the police.

A man, without any clothes, entered the women’s compartment of an air-conditioned local train halted at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar railway station on Monday, creating panic among women passengers.

After the incident that was captured on video went viral, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said that the man was mentally unwell and was later provided with clothes and escorted out of the station premises.

According to Railway officials, as the fully unclothed man entered the women’s coach, the passengers on board started shouting and asked him to get off the train, which he refused to comply with.

A ticket checker intervened, pushed the man out of the train and handed him over to the police.

The incident has prompted concerns over passenger safety, especially in designated women-only coaches. For suburban railway authorities on both the Western and Central Railways, keeping homeless individuals, beggars, and trespassers away from stations has remained a major challenge for years, despite regular checks by the police.
