Manisha Kayande further alleged, “Uddhav Thackeray had invented a new kind of governance – ‘Work From Home’. (Express File Photo) Slamming Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray over his concerns amid a stir to ensure a quota for all members of the Maratha community, Shiv Sena secretary and MLA Dr Manisha Kayande Friday said he has no rights to voice his opinions after having worked from the comfort of his home for two-and-a-half-years.
“For two-and-a-half years, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray managed the state’s (Maharashtra) affairs from the comfort of his home and now he is questioning the most efficient and hardworking Chief Minister — Eknath Shinde — who has also been rated as a 5-Star Chief Minister by the people for holding the state cabinet meeting at a 5-star hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar,” said Kayande.
He added, “Why is Thackeray suddenly worried about the people of the Marathwada region? What moral right does the opposition have to question our Chief Minister who is dedicatedly working for the welfare of the people of this state?”
Talking about the criticisms levelled by the Opposition over the cabinet meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Kayande said, “Since 1999 to 2014, i.e., during the tenure of the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party, only one cabinet meeting was held in the Marathwada region when Late Vilasrao Deshmukh was the chief minister although these 15 years saw two chief ministers from the region.”
“But later, between 2014 and 2019, during the tenure of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had held a meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar,” Kayande added.
She further alleged, “Uddhav Thackeray had invented a new kind of governance – ‘Work From Home’. Neither did he move out of his house to manage the state’s affairs nor did he visit the people to understand their woes. It was during his tenure, in 2021, when a plot in Jogeshwari, which was used as a playground, was handed over to Ravindra Waikar to construct a 5-star hotel.”
“Hence, Uddhav Thackeray holds no moral right to question the most hardworking chief minister who not only goes to the Mantralaya but also tours the state. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Thackeray was blessed to not have experienced ground difficulties. He was happy managing the state’s affairs through his social media handles. Even senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar, in his autobiography, wrote ‘Uddhav Thackeray being the Chief Minister and not going to Mantralaya wasn’t acceptable to us as well’,” Kayande said.
