‘Kai Po Che!’ and ‘2 States’, the two films based on books by Chetan Bhagat, have given Rajkumar Rao and Arjun Kapoor, respectively, the biggest hits of their careers. Rao, who was being considered as the protagonist in the cinematic adaptation of Bhagat’s last novel Revolution 2020 is set to be replaced by Arjun Kapoor.
Rao, high from his National Award win for ‘Shahid’, has lately been bagging a number of major projects but the mixed response to his last release Citylights may have worked against him. Kapoor, on the other hand, has just had his career’s first bona fide hit with ‘2 States’, which grossed Rs 100 crore.
According to sources, Revolution 2020 is a big-budget project and the makers — director Raj Kumar Gupta and producer UTV Motion Pictures — are looking for a star-actor to make it more commercially viable. UTV is in talks with Kapoor to sign him on.
