The Nehru Nagar police have arrested four women for allegedly gagging and robbing a 61-year-old woman of Rs. 1.6 lakh last month. Police said the incident took place on August 30 at around 10.30 am when three women entered the house of the senior citizen and allegedly tied her up under the pretext of conducting a survey.
“There were three accused inside the house and a fourth keeping watch outside the house. All four of them fled the scene but were captured as we traced them soon,” said an investigator.
While searching the house of the victim, the police found a notebook that did not belong to any of the the occupants of the house. It had the name of girl and the class she was studying in. The police found out that the girl studies in a school in Wadala. “The girl lead us to her mother who was taken into custody on September 2 and who spilled the beans on the conspiracy,” a police officer said. “We recognised her as one of the four after watching footage from a nearby CCTV camera,” police said.
