The PAC is usually headed by a legislator of the opposition party.
Even nine months after the formation of the Ekanth Shinde-led state government, the PAC has not yet been formed.
When contacted, Pawar said he wasn’t aware of this development. “But if the party has decided to give me the responsibility, I will fulfill my duties for the betterment of the state,” he told The Indian Express.
According to sources in the NCP, the principal opposition in the state, the party has submitted the name of Pawar as the chairperson of the PAC. “However, a final decision will be taken only after consulting with our allies,” said a senior leader.
