CONTINUING HIS attack on NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, NCP leader and minister Nawab Malik said on Sunday that he stood by his claims that the IRS officer was Muslim by birth and had produced a bogus certificate to get the government job.
Malik further told media persons that he was not fighting a battle on caste or religion but was pointing out how bogus certificates were used by Wankhede to get a job that should have gone to someone from Scheduled Caste.
Ever since Wankhede led a raid on a cruise ship in Mumbai on October 2 during which drugs were allegedly seized, Malik has made allegations against Wankhede. Wankhede has alleged that Malik was targeting him since Wankhede had earlier arrested the minister’s son-in-law Sameer Khan in a narcotics case. The minister has repeatedly claimed that the entire operation on the cruise ship on October 2, during which Aryan Khan was held, was “fake”.
