The Nashik rural police has arrested two men in different cases for putting up posts that were seen as glorify glorifying Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

The first incident occurred in Nashik district’s Ghoti where a post by one Shoaib Maniyar is said to have led to tension in the area on Friday.

Local residents gathered outside a police station and sought action against Maniyar over his Facebook post, which they alleged hurt their religious sentiments, police said.

A case was subsequently filed against Maniyar and he was taken into custody.

In another incident 20 year old Salim Kazi was arrested from Sinnar in Nashik district for putting up a 25 second video about Aurangazeb as his status message. Local Bajrang Dal leaders had complained about it which led to Kazi’s arrest.
