IN THE 24 hours before Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis refuted allegations of rise in Nagpur crime graph, four murders — within a span of 12 hours — rocked the city. The incidents were reported from Wathoda, Nandanwan, Hudkeshwar and Ambazari localities here. While three involved gangs attacking three men, one incident was of domestic violence, where a man killed his wife in a fit of rage.

Harish Bawne (35), Pankaj Tiwari (30) and Nilesh Karoti (25) were assaulted by three different groups with sharp weapons, while Luvpreet Kaur Mohar (32) was killed by her husband Gurudeosingh Mohar.
Commissioner of Police K Venkatesan told The Indian Express, “While two of the murders happened over petty issues, the woman’s murder was due to some domestic quarrel. We have taken preventive action against the culprits in at least two of the cases.”
The issue of four murders was raised by Hemant Takle and Jayant Patil of the NCP, immediately after the CM’s reply in the Legislative Assembly. About five years ago, Nagpur had registered a peak of five murders in a day.
