The Mumbai police Tuesday arrested a youth for allegedly killing his father.

The police investigation has revealed that the accused, Rahul Salve, 23, fought with his father frequently after consuming alcohol and it was during one such fight Sunday that the father passed away.

An officer said the accused Rahul Salve and his father Sanjay Salve, 52, resided at Hariyali village in Indira Nagar slum in Vikhroli (East). The incident took place Sunday morning when the father-son duo had a fight over a minor issue that turned physical. During the course of the fight, Sanjay fell down and suffered injuries to his head. He was then rushed to the Rajawadi hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The Vikhroli police were alerted by the hospital following which an accidental death report (ADR) was filed. However, later based on a complaint given by Sanjay’s sister Nanda Salve, 53, the police registered a case of murder against Rahul following which he was placed under arrest. An officer said that Rahul is unemployed and often had fights with his father especially when he was under the influence of alcohol.
