An FIR was registered against six contractors and two third-party quality auditors implicated in the BMC’s roads inquiry report with the Azad Maidan police station on Tuesday. The BMC had submitted the report to the Mayor two days ago.

The report focussed on 34 road works for which tenders had been given to six contractors. The inquiry found irregularities in all 34 roads.

Apart from the contractors, several senior as well as junior civic officials were found to be allegedly involved, including the assistant engineer, sub-engineer, deputy engineer and chief engineer of the roads department, along with the chief engineer of the vigilance department, who has already been suspended for his alleged role in the drain de-silting scam.

Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta’s report also recommended that the contractors be blacklisted.
