Débutantes Mumbai Police City Riders beat defending champions Thane Marathas by three wickets in a thrilling top-of-the-table clash in the Mitsui Shoji T20 Cricket League at Police Gymkhana ground,Marine Lines,on Monday.
In a low scoring tie,the City Riders could score only 159 for seven in the allotted 20 overs. In reply,they restricted the Thane outfit to 156 for seven.
In the other matches,Ghatkopar Jets had a mixed day. They beat bottom-placed Shivaji Park Warriors by 54 runs. The irony for the Warriors was that their medium pacer Jitendra Paliwal claimed five for 42,including a hat-trick,yet they finished on the losing side. However,the Jets were beaten by Bandra heroes by nine wickets.
