Love blooms in second-chance WhatsApp group in rural Maharashtra

The WhatsApp group was created by an NGO, Corona Ekal Mahila Punarvasan Samiti, specifically for women who had lost their spouse to Covid. Disqualify MPs and MLAs who have 3 kids, says Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar has urged the Central Government to invoke its powers to disqualify MPs and MLAs who have three children.

“Our country’s population is increasing by the day. When Vilasrao Deshmukh was the chief minister, we used to disqualify elected representatives who had three children. We took this decision with caution. But some people want to know why we didn’t disqualify MPs and MLAs who had three children. I want to tell them the powers to disqualify MPs and MLAs lie with the Central Government. The Centre should use its powers to disqualify such MPs and MLAs,” said Pawar at a private function in Baramati on Sunday. Read More

‘Haven’t had a discussion on seat sharing yet’: Sharad Pawar on contesting 2024 LS polls with MVA

Amid political uncertainty in Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said Sunday that since seat-sharing talks within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) have not been held yet, it is difficult to say whether all three parties will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together.

“Today we are in an alliance and want to contest elections together. But only wishing to do so cannot be enough. We haven’t had a discussion on seat sharing yet so how we talk about contesting the election together?” Pawar said in a press conference held in Vidarbha’s Amaravati.

Pawar’s statement also comes on the backdrop of growing speculations over NCP leader and his nephew Ajit Pawar joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Last week, amid those rumours, Ajit Pawar had clarified he would not quit the NCP till his last breath. Read More

BJP doesn't want Shinde govt to survive in Maharashtra, moves on in Delhi to remove him as CM: Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut Monday claimed that things are moving in a direction in Delhi to remove Eknath Shinde as the chief minister of Maharashtra, and the BJP itself doesn't want this government to survive for more days. He added that the BJP realised that the Maharashtra government was causing damage to the party.

"Things are moving in a direction in Delhi to change the CM of Maharashtra. Everyone knows the reason behind this. Since becoming the chief minister, he (Shinde) has failed to achieve what the BJP wanted. This CM failed to lead the state and fulfil what BJP wanted to achieve politically from him. They (the BJP) wanted to overthrow our government, they used him (Shinde) for that. That work is done now. But the BJP could not achieve what it wanted to achieve politically in Maharashtra,” said Raut. Read More
