Mumbai man kills elder brother over monetary dispute, tells police he died natural death  

Police sources said that during the investigation, Rahul’s younger brother Akash, 27, told the interrogators that his brother had been addicted to alcohol and suffered a heart attack in 2021. He further told the police that Rahul did not stop drinking even after receiving treatment at a rehabilitation centre.

According to the police, Akash further told them that Rahul had collapsed while alone at home, adding that he was out for some work then.

After Akash’s statement was recorded, Rahul’s family took his body to their village in Solapur and performed the last rites.

However, the police continued their investigation as there was a blood drop near Rahul’s nose, raising suspicions about his death.

The police said Rahul’s friends told them that the brothers had fought on July 6. When the police summoned the duo’s father, who returned from the village on July 26, he said that Akash had assaulted Rahul brutally over a monetary dispute on July 6.

Meanwhile, the police received the postmortem report, which revealed that Rahul had internal injuries due to the assault and that he was also strangled.

The police said that when questioned further, Akash confessed that he had assaulted his elder brother, banged his head against the wall, and later strangled him.

The police registered a suo motu murder case and arrested Akash.
