Mumbai wakes up to light rain and cloudy skies

The IMD added that in the coming week, the frequency and intensity of rainfall in Mumbai will be lesser compared to last week.

Mumbai woke up to light drizzles and a cloudy sky on Sunday, as rains continued to lash the city from Saturday night. The Indian Meteorological Department’s Santacruz observatory recorded 7 mm of rain till 8.30 am during the day, while the coastal observatory at Colaba recorded 6 mm.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Automatic weather systems (AWS) recorded 10.4 mm of rains in the city, 11 mm in Eastern Suburbs and 8.27 mm in western suburbs.

The IMD hasn’t issued any alert and maintains that Mumbai will experience light to moderate spells of rain throughout the day. “Moderate to heavy rainfall in city and suburbs. Possibility of occasional, intense spell in one or two places,” stated BMC’s bulletin for Sunday.
