The local police registered an attempt to murder in a dispute over a plot of land known as ‘dabba compound’ in Mankhurd saw local goons in a land grab, attacking a 40-year-old with a sickle that almost led to the loss of his left hand.
The victim identified as Khalil Shaikh too was squatting illegally on the land which belongs to the government.
An officer said that the incident took place on Thursday evening when Shaikh along with his wife was having tea at a local tea store in Mankhurd.
There, Shaikh saw accused Balasaheb Kasbe along with two others with whom he had a fight a few weeks back over occupying a section of dabba compound.
Seeing Shaikh, the trio returned with sickles. Kasbe along with two others then tried to hit him on the head with a sickle. Later they attacked him on his left hand. As per the FIR, due to the cut, his left arm was hanging from his arm Shaikh was rushed to the hospital.
The local police registered an attempt to murder and arrested one accused while they are looking for two others.
