A major fire broke out at a five-storeyed building in Grant Road in Mumbai on Sunday morning, an official said. However, no casualties have been reported, he added.
Around 6 am, the fire brigade received a call about a fire at Aditya Arcade building in Padamsi on Grant Road, following which a team along with local police and ambulances rushed to the spot.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
The blaze engulfed the ground and first floors of the building, the fire brigade official said.
While eight to 10 people managed to rush out of the premises on their own, nine were rescued by the fire brigade, he added.
“It was a level-3 fire. We rescued nearly nine people. No casualty has been reported so far,” the official said.
Among the nine rescued, the official said, two people who were stranded on the second floor were evacuated with the help of an Angus ladder.
Besides, four persons were rescued from the building’s terrace and three from its third floor, he added.
