A doctor, who allegedly jumped into the sea from Sewri-Nhava Sea Link Atal Setu Monday night, was in depression after the family of a doctor he was in a relationship with, opposed their decision to marry, the Navi Mumbai police have found in their preliminary inquiry.

Dr Omkar Kavitake, 32, a senior surgeon at Mumbai’s Sir J J Hospital, has not been found even after 42 hours of the search operation launched by the Ulwe police, along with marine security personnel.

A police officer, who is a part of the probe, told The Indian Express, “During the preliminary inquiry, when we spoke to some of his family members, friends, and colleagues, we found that Dr Kavitake was in a relationship with another doctor from Mumbai. The two were planning to get married soon”.
