Mumbai: Cop among first to enter Taj during 26/11 dies

Kakde had gone for a run at Marine Drive to prepare for an upcoming marathon Friday morning when he collapsed.

Nitin Kakde (45), an assistant police inspector who was among the first to enter the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during the 26/11 terror attacks in 2008, died from a heart attack on Friday.

Kakde had gone for a run at Marine Drive to prepare for an upcoming marathon Friday morning when he collapsed.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Posted at the LT Marg police station, Kakde had received a gallantry medal from the President. He is survived by his wife and two children.
