With a large footfall expected at the site, the BMC is set to install four bio-toilets along the promenade.
Proposed to come up temporarily for a period of six months to one year, the bio-toilets are expected to come up near Amarsons garden at Breach Candy, one in Mahalakshmi while two are set to installed in Worli. The four locations were finalised on the basis of an inspection carried out by a civic team on June 26. “The plans to erect bio-toilets was finalised as there are no sewage lines in that area. These toilet blocks will be planned to be aesthetically in sync with the surrounding place,” an official said.
According to officials, the promenade will comprise jogging tracks, seating areas along with multiple patches of green cover as well as a dedicated green lane for cycling. Extending between Priyadarshini Park and Worli, this promenade will run adjoining the southbound carriageway of the Coastal Road.
The promenade forms a part of the 70 hectares of the 111 hectares of reclaimed land, which have been earmarked particularly for the development of open spaces. While the landward side is likely to see development of forests and themed zones, nearly 7.5 km on the seaward side is being developed as a Marine Drive-like promenade.
