A 51-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a high-rise building in Dadar, police said Friday. Hiren Dand lived with his wife and 20-year-old son on the 22nd floor of Spring Tower at GD Ambedkar Marg in Dadar, police said. He used to work as a share broker, but had quit following a mental illness. Dand was undergoing treatment for the past eight years, police added.

“He would often tell his wife that he would do something to himself. On Friday, he complained of illness. While his family members were doing their daily chores, he jumped off the building at 8.30 am,” a police officer said.

Dand was rushed to KEM hospital, where he was declared dead before admission. “We have lodged a case of accidental death,” said an officer from RAK Marg police station.
