In an initiative to boost tourism with Japan, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation last week facilitated tours of tour operators from India. They are likely to identify the prime locations for tourists to visit and prepare an itinerary of it.

Classified under the head of Familiarization Tours (FAM tours), it is likely to see an exchange of various trade professionals between Maharashtra and Japan. This is one of the initiatives under the MoU signed between the state and Wakayama Prefecture, Japan in 2013. “There has been a steady influx of tourists from Japan to Aurangabad to study important places around the Buddhist circuit. The FAM tours will help us identify prime locations of visit around Japan and likewise for their trade professional so that tourism is highly encouraged in both countries,” said Paraag Jain Nainuttia, MD, MTDC.
