The sixth CPC has recommended grade pay of Rs 4,800 to the staff in grade 5500- 9000 and Rs 5400 to those in grade 6500-10500. The association demands that there should be proper calculation of kilometres while deciding the running allowance. According to it,the risk allowance should be given to all motormen.

“Their demands like night allowance and national holiday allowance have been approved by the railway board. Till now, beyond a fixed grade,it was not given to any higher grade motorman. To fulfill other demands, the ministry’s approval is mandatory,” said a senior official of the Western Railway on condition of anonymity.

When contacted,General Manager of the Central Railway said,“Discussions regarding their demands are on in the division office level. Many of their demands can be approved only by the Railway Ministry.”
