More than one man slit throats of victims

While investigating the brutal murders at Kurar,the Crime Branch Unit 12 have found that the main accused,Uday Pathak,was not the only one to slit the throats of the four victims.

Pathak and his accomplices took the men to a forest and while four men held each of the victim,Pathak,who was drunk,took the weapon and slit the necks of Karanje and Kudale. After that,Pathak received a call and ordered one of his accomplices to slit the necks of the remaining two youths. There are at least two more persons who cut the throats of the victims along with Pathak, said an officer from the Crime Branch on condition of anonymity. Only one weapon was used by all the three killers,which has been seized, added the officer.

The Crime Branch submitted a chargesheet on Saturday against 17 accused,including one absconding person,for allegedly abducting four men Ganesh Karanje,Dinesh Ahire,Bharat Kudale and Chetan Dhule from their houses in Kurar and killing them in the forest at Appapada. Their bodies were found on June 3.

The police arrested 16 men,including Uday Pathak,who was nabbed from Varansai. Pathak had allegedly kidnapped the four men to take revenge for a previous brawl. Pathaks aides Rahul Mandri,Prakash Sharma,Vivekanand Pisey,Naresh Mayekar,Manoj Gujjar,Ajit Rane,Rohit alias Bachhi,Babu Chintale,Lalu Patel,auto driver Anil Dixit,Vaibhav Chavan,Bhola Chaube,Amit Soni,Laxmikant Khatri and Hemant Gupta alias Gibbs were also arrested later.

Milinnd Khetle,senior inspector of the Crime Branch Unit 12,refused to divulge the names of accomplices who slit the throats of the victims along with Pathak.

Officials said they plan to have a fast-track trial once the probe is complete. We will tell the court about this, said Khetle. He,however,added that the state wanted Advocate Ujjwal Nikam to handle the sensitive case as they want accused to receive maximum punishment.

Along with the charges of abduction and murder,the police have charged the 17 men with rioting,common intention,dacoity,and attempt to kill two men apart from the victims.
