‘Molested’ for 2 months,girl lodges complaint against mother,her ‘lover’

A 12-year-old girl from Nalasopara Tuesday registered a complaint of molestation against her mother’s boyfriend. The girl’s mother,who allegedly threteaned her with to not tell anybody of the harassment,has also been booked for criminal intimidation under the IPC.

Senior inspector Mukun Mahajan said they have booked Naresh Chopra (43) and the girl’s 41-year old mother.

The girl,who studies in class VII,alleged that her mother let her boyfriend sexually and mentally harass her. She also threatened her to not tell anybody about the molestation.

The alleged harassment continued for over two months and came to light Monday when the girl informed her aunt about it.

Chopra and the girl’s mother have been booked for criminal intimidation under the IPC. The duo have also been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Police said the girl approached them along with her grandfather,uncle and aunt. In her statement,the girl told the police that she lived in a joint family earlier with her parents,younger sister,grandparents and uncle in Vasai. However,a few months ago,her parents shifted to Nalasopara after several domestic disputes with other family members. The girl’s father,who owns a factory in Vasai,left for Kolkata two months ago for business.

The girl told police that when they shifted,Sunita,her mother’s friend from Vasai,started visiting them regularly. Sunita introduced her mother to Chopra,a resident of Kalyan.

“My mother began meeting Chopra regularly and fell in love with him. A few days later,Chopra started staying over at our place,” said the girl in her statement.

The girl further told police that whenever her mother went out of the house,Chopra would touch her inappropriately. “I did not tell my mother in the beginning because I was scared. However,a month ago,when I told my mother,she scolded me and told me not to tell anyone. Chopra used to get new clothes for my mother and me. My mother forced me to wear them. When I refused to comply it,she beat me up and also threatened me,” the 12-year-old said.

Police took the girl for a medical examination. The girl and her younger sister are currently with their grandparents. Her father has also been informed of the incident.
