The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashta Navnirman Sena has deputed senior leaders to oversee the party’s preparedness for the elections to be held next year in 10 municipal corporations across the state.
It has asked Shishir Shinde and Nitin Sardesai, among others, to monitor preparations of Thane Municipal Corporation elections. Bala Nandgaonkar and Anil Shidore will look after Pune and Avinash Abhyankar will take charge of Nashik. The party has also announced names for corporations in Solapur, Ulhasnagar, Amravati, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur and Akola.
Thackeray has, meanwhile, distributed the entire area under the city’s corporation limits into 21 zones based on Assembly constituencies. The responsibility of each zone has been handed over to vice-president level functionaries of the party.
“The functionaries will monitor the strengths and prospects of the party in the area and also help identify probable candidates. The party leadership will reach out and hold more interactions with the party workers to boost morale before the elections,” a party leader said.
