Man found hanging in Kandivali apartment

A 38-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his Kandivali (West) apartment on Sunday.

A 38-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his Kandivali (West) apartment on Sunday.

Paresh Gandhi was reportedly frustrated due to financial problems,the police said. Gandhi did not leave behind a suicide note.

The police said Gandhi traded in gold and ran a store,‘Samrajya Gold’,in Kandivali. He stayed with his wife,two children and his father lived at Panchsheel Heights in Mahavir Nagar. His daughter is 10-years-old and his son is aged seven.

The police said between 3.30 and 4 pm on Sunday,Gandhi hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the living room of his residence using a dupatta. He was alone at home at the time. When his family returned,there was no response to their knocks on the door. They informed their neighbours,who alerted the Charkop police.

After the police entered the flat,Gandhi was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead. “Gandhi’s wife told us that he had faced financial problems for the past six months. He suffered losses in the share market,” said senior inspector V Divarkar.

An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered and the body has been sent to the Borivali post-mortem centre.
