Man booked for ‘raping’ help in 2012

A 32-year-old woman from Kurla Saturday lodged a complaint with Nehru Nagar police station,alleging that her former employer raped her in April 2012.

A 32-year-old woman from Kurla Saturday lodged a complaint with Nehru Nagar police station,alleging that her former employer raped her in April 2012. The suspect has been identified as Aftab Mohammad Ali Surve.

The woman has claimed that while looking for a job as a domestic help in Nehru Nagar,Kurla (East) last year,she was referred to Surve by an acquaintance,Reshma Mohammad Gulzar. She has named Gulzar as a complicit in the crime too.

Surve allegedly raped the woman on her third day at work when his wife was not home. When the victim told him that she will approach the police,Surve told her that he had contacts with top police personnel.

“We will conduct an inquiry into the case. Since the crime was committed a year-and-a-half ago,it will be difficult to prove the case,” said Suresh Bhavar,senior inspector,Nehru Nagar police station.
