Man booked for ‘raping’ daughter-in-law

A COMPLAINT of rape was registered against a 75-year-old trustee of a temple in Borivali west on Sunday,after his 38-year-old daughter-in-law lodged a complaint with Dahisar police.

A COMPLAINT of rape was registered against a 75-year-old trustee of a temple in Borivali west on Sunday,after his 38-year-old daughter-in-law lodged a complaint with Dahisar police. The woman was sent to Nagpada police hospital on Monday for a medical examination to confirm rape.

An officer from Dahisar police station said a probe was on and the woman’s medical report was awaited.

Police said the accused was a trustee of a temple visited by hundreds of people daily and he employed four men who keep an account of the donations made.

Police said the accused had three sons and his eldest son’s wife registered the rape complaint against him. As per the complaint,the accused raped her on several occasions from 1995-2010 at her residence in Dahisar east.

However,the second wife of the accused claimed that her daughter-in-law was falsely implicating and blackmailing him to get a share of his property.

Police said the first wife of the accused died five year ago,and he remarried on February 19 last year.

His second wife has a 22-year-old son and a daughter who live with them.

A month ago,the accused had registered a case at MHB colony police station and had accused his daughter-in-law of blackmailing him for getting property.

“We are recording statements of the family members of the victim,” said senior inspector Ansari Pirzade.
