A man from Bihar was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport last week for allegedly attempting to fly to Qatar using a forged visa.
The man, Mohammad Ustak (34), was caught after he could not satisfactorily answer questions from the immigration officials about the purpose of his visit. An official at Sahar police station said that Ustak initially claimed that he was going to Qatar for work. After scanning Ustak’s documents, immigration officials found that his visa was forged, police said.
“The accused had a forged work visa and he later claimed that he was going to Qatar to meet his brother, who works there,” said the officer.
Ustak’s lawyer Advocate Prabhakar Tripathi said that Ustak, who is a class nine dropout from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, had been referred to a travel agent in Mumbai. “The agent handed him the forged visa and instructed him to tell immigration officials at the airport that he was going to work in Qatar,” he said. Ustak is in judicial custody.
