Man arrested for uttering obscene remarks before neighbour’s child

The accused had been making lewd gestures to the girl’s mother since the past few months.

In an unusual move, the Mumbai Police has booked a 30-year-old man after he threatened an eight-year-old girl with lewd remarks against her mother.

The man was arrested on Sunday evening by the Malwani police after he barged into the house of his neighbour and allegedly mouthed obscenities to the child.

The police are now in the process of booking the accused under sections of Protection Of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSOA).

According to the police, the accused works for a private company in Malad and had been making lewd gestures to the girl’s mother since the past few months. While the woman had ignored him all along, on Sunday the accused went to the woman’s house in an inebriated state and misbehaved with the child. The woman approached the police and registered a complaint. In her complaint, the 32-year-old woman has said that on Sunday she was at a neighbour’s house when she noticed the man walk into her house where her eight-year-old daughter was playing and was alone.
