Man accused of ‘killing’ wife acquitted

Defence lawyer Amrish Salunke said four witnesses, two children of the accused, his sister and her daughter, did not support the prosecution’s case.

A sessions court Thursday acquitted a 47-year-old man who was accused of hacking his wife to death with a sickle in 2014. Defence lawyer Amrish Salunke said four witnesses, two children of the accused, his sister and her daughter, did not support the prosecution’s case.

The four eyewitnesses turned hostile, which led to the acquittal.
