‘Malad murder accused wanted money for new life in Bangladesh’

The officers said that Arvind had visited Khan’s residence to help her download songs on her mobile phone.

To start a business and live a lavish life in Bangladesh with his girlfriend, Arvind Gupta alias Guddu, planned out his moves in the past three months before he killed Shagufta Khan at her Malad residence and robbed her diamond jewelry worth Rs 75 lakh.

The officers said that Arvind had visited Khan’s residence to help her download songs on her mobile phone which she had bought from a shop at City Centre in Goregaon where he worked as a technician.

In the visits, he had found out that Khan, being the wife of Yogendra Jalan alias Sonu Malad, a bookie, always had cash and jewelry worth lakhs at her house. He also knew that Khan was alone at home. On Tuesday he went to Khan’s house. After killing her, he robbed her jewelry. Sonu after seeing the jewelry told the police that the booty was worth Rs 75 lakh.
