Mumbai: Maintenance, repair at airport hit over 200 flights

Most airlines accommodated passengers either in their morning or evening flights by combining flights.On an average, the CSIA handles 1,000 flights a day.

MORE than 200 flight services were affected on Tuesday after both the runways at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, were shut for six hours due to maintenance work and repair.

Airlines, including IndiGo and Spice Jet, claimed that they had adjusted their flight schedule in such a way that flights did not get affected.

The first phase was scheduled for this month and work in the next phase would be carried out between February 7 and March 30 (except on March 21) from 11 am to 5 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The airlines had been intimated in advance about the runway closure period and accordingly they had rescheduled some of the flights.
