Maharashtra Poll Ballotin: With NCP-SP but campaigning for daughter-in-law, a BJP candidate

NCP-SP leader and MLC Eknath Khadse is campaigning for his daughter-in-law Raksha Khadse, who is contesting from Raver Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket. Now, BJP leader Girish Mahajan has targeted Khadse, asking him to resign from his MLC post and then campaign for the BJP.

Mahajan, a well-known rival of Khadse — when the latter was in the BJP — has been refuting news about Khadse’s ‘ghar wapsi’ to the BJP. While the BJP is welcoming leaders of other parties into its fold, it is delaying the re-entry of its former top leader for unknown reasons.

Shah advises BJP’s Sangli candidate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a word of advise for Sangli BJP candidate and incumbent MP Sanjay Patil referring to the women’s reservation Bill passed by the Centre. Shah, while speaking at a public rally, advised Patil to ensure hat-trick in 2024 as next time women reservation could deny him the chance.

Patil has been winning the seat since 2014 and, due to disagreement within the opposition, hopes to win the seat for the third time.

Danve reaches out to Khotkar in Jalna

BJP leader and Union minister Raosaheb Danve, who is contesting from Jalna, reached out to alliance partner Sena leader Arjun Khotker, who has stayed away from campaigning following differences between the two allies. Danve has represented Jalna for the last five terms.

With Maratha quota issue gaining prominence in Marathwada, Danve is reaching out to all to win support. The Congress has fielded Kalyan Kale as its candidate.

Mother campaigns for daughter Supriya

Pratibha Pawar’s participation in a women’s gathering at Baramati has come as a pleasant surprise to many. Pratibha Tai, as she is popularly addressed, is the wife of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and mother of Supriya Sule.

Political observers see this gesture as an attempt by a mother to campaign for her daughter, a three-term MP from Baramati. Sule is pitted against her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar, wife of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
