Fireman hurt in Kurla blaze

A Level-II fire broke out at a slum in Ansari industrial compound near Kalpana Cinema in Kurla West on Saturday morning. While there were no casualties reported, a fireman sustained burn injuries while trying to douse the blaze. He has been admitted to K B Bhabha municipal hospital in Kurla West.

The fire that broke out at 9 am was immediately brought under control. “We received a call about a fire at Ansari compound near Kalpana Talkies. Immediately, five fire engines and four water tankers, along with an ambulance, were rushed to the spot,” said a civic official. “The fire was contained within one-and-a-half-hour and none of the residents suffered injuries. One of our firemen has been injured but his condition is stable now,” he added.
