The BJP corporator from Pimple Nilakh, Tushar Kamthe, has been booked for allegedly submitting fake educational document while contesting civic elections in Pimpri Chinchwad in 2012 and 2017. Kamthe is on the run after the FIR was lodged against him, the police said. Congress leader Sachin Sathe, whom Kamthe defeated in the 2017 civic polls, has lodged the complaint in the case at Sangvi police station.

According to the police, 34-year-old Kamthe contested the 2017 civic polls from Ward number 26B, which comes under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Sathe got to know that Kamthe had failed in Class 11th exams, but allegedly procured a fake document declaring that he passed the Class 11th exams from Marathwada Mitramandal College of Commerce (MMCC) in Deccan Gymkhana area in 1998-99, the police said.
