Fire in Kurla building after MGL Gas pipe line leakage, no casualties

Two fires were reported in Kurla on Wednesday with senior officials maintaining that no injuries were reported in the incidents.

The first incident was reported on Wednesday afternoon when a level-one fire broke out at a residential building in Kurla West. No injuries were reported in the incident, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) attributing the cause to a Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) gas pipe line leakage.

The incident was reported at 1.23 pm at the Mubarak building located behind the LIG colony in Kurla West’s Vinoba Bhave Nagar. According to officials, the blaze was reported at the ground floor of the four storey residential structure, which also comprises shops. The fire was declared level-I at 1.29 pm. In a bid to douse the flames, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) pressed its firemen while MGL gas staff, police and civic ward staffers were also pressed into action.

The fire was extinguished at 3.09 pm, with no injuries reported. Hours later, a level-two fire was reported at an eight-storey Kohinoor City building situated along Peter Parera road in Vidyavihar at 4.52 pm. According to officials, the fire was confined to the seventh floor of the eight storey structure.
