A 21-year-old college student was allegedly kidnapped from Andheri on Thursday morning. The girl, whose identity has not been revealed,is a student of SNDT College in Malad.

According to police, the girl’s father, who is a resident of Navjeevan Society in Malad (East) got a call from his daughter at 10.30 am on Thursday.

“She was stammering and I could make out that she was scared. All she said was that she had been kidnapped. She pleaded me to save her before her phone got disconnected,” the woman’s father who lodged a complaint at the Malad police station said.

The police said they began tracking her call and traced her to Anand Para Hospital at Malad (East) in two hours. The police found that she was admitted at the ICU.

“She was unconscious and the doctor told us that she had consumed poisonous chemical. The doctor said a man had admitted her to the hospital,” an officer from Malad police station said.

On gaining consciousness, she told the police that after finishing her exam at 9.30am,she was on her way to Andheri where she was employed at a garment factory.

While walking towards her office,a van stopped in front of her and the occupants inside including a woman and some men, pulled her in,a police official said.

“I called my father immediately when the men inside the car snatched my phone and threatened me. After that I fell unconscious,” the girl said.

The next thing she knew was she had been abandoned on the roadside.

“The girl’s elder brother told us that he had registered a case against Anil Gupta who had threatened her two days ago over an SRA issue,” said API M Herpude, from the Malad police station.
