KEM Hospital’s forensic medicine dept head booked for molestation

An officer said a written complaint in this matter was earlier filed with the Bhoiwada Police Station.

After due verification, the police registered the First Information Report, and said they are recording the statements of individuals linked to the alleged incident.

As per the police complaint, the accused also allegedly abused and threatened the complainant doctor’s husband multiple times including in a hospital’s programme.

He also allegedly molested the 39-year-old complainant doctor in December 2021 and also inappropriately touched their two daughters, aged 15 and nine years, in June 2023 and March 2024, sources said. The accused also offered the complaint to work in his department during the night shift, states the FIR.

The complainant’s husband, who is a forensic medicine and toxicology department additional professor at KEM Hospital, was suspended around a month ago after six women doctors filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him. These women had filed a complaint with the current accused HOD, and the dean of the hospital.

There has been a long standing dispute and fight between the accused HOD and the complainant’s husband (additional professor). In the past, two deans of the KEM hospitals had resolved their dispute, but it has later surfaced again.
