Days after seeking permission from the court to write a letter to Mecca,Saudi Arabia, lone arrested terrorist for 26/11 terror attacks Ajmal Amir Kasab on Tuesday made another request to the court. This time,he sought the CDs containing the CCTV footage recorded at various sites of the attacks. The CDs have been submitted to the court by the prosecution.
Kasab sought the CD of the CCTV footage recorded by the Railway Police Force (RPF) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on 26/11 last year that shows him and his deceased partner Abu Ismail Khan firing indiscriminately at the station. The CD was earlier played before the court in the presence of Kasab. As many as six CDs,part of evidence in the case, have been given to the defence lawyers also along with the chargesheet.
Kasab is a very shrewd and dramatic person,he always wants to be in the limelight and doesnt give any convincing justification for his illogical and irrelevant demands, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said. Referring to his demand for writing a letter to Mecca,Nikam said,Soon after the court asked basic questions about whom he wanted to write the letter to,he had no explanation and couldnt face the court. He hasnt been able to give an explanation to his lawyer also.
Defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi said,He doesnt understand that the CD has to be played on a player and in his cell he has neither a player nor a television. So it is not a valid plea but he did this after the court again turned down his demand for a newspaper. He should understand that once the CD is played in court he will be able to see it.
