While Kalki Koechlin has made her presence felt in mainstream movies, it’s the unconventional choices that drives her the most. The actor has much to look forward to in the new year. She has just shot a sequence for the film Kaash, which is being directed by Ishaan (Mira Nair’s nephew) and is produced by Irrfan Khan.
“Ishaan is a very good friend and he has been wanting to do this film since almost a year and a half. I am happy that it is finally under production,” says Kalki about the road movie for which she shot a five-day sequence at Rann of Kutch. “I play a French hippie who is touring India. It was really exciting to be a part of the film as I had never been to a desert earlier,” she shares.
Interestingly, now the actor has few more interesting things to look forward to. Her film, Margarita With A Straw that has amazed the festival audience world over, is set to release as Choone Chali Aasman in April. She would now start working on the NFDC-funded project, Mantra to be directed by Nicholas Kharkongor and later in February, she would shoot for Soni Razdan’s Love Affair.
Mantra will go on floors very soon. I am playing Rajat Kapoor’s daughter in the film, which is a story about changing India of the 90s,” says Koechlin.
